Comments By Paramount’s New Ownership Get Fans Dreaming Again
Possibilities about what Star Trek the Ellison team might greenlight have fans talking
It sure didn’t take much to bring the hopes and dreams of Star Trek fans back to life.
David Ellison and some of the other top management at the new combined Paramount-Skydance, answered questions for journalists last week in Hollywood.
And much to the delight of many fans, Star Trek was mentioned by name.
That’s been enough to send many fans into overdrive with ambitious new aspirations for the near future of the franchise.
“‘Star Trek’ is absolutely a priority, and it’s a priority across the company,” Dana Goldberg, co-chair of Paramount Pictures and Paramount Television, said. “We’re not going to be siloed off so that there’s a conversation happening about television and another conversation” about film plans.
In addition, at the recent STLV convention, actor Simon Pegg — who played Scotty in the Kelvinverse films and co-wrote Star Trek Beyond — called Ellison a “big fan of Star Trek.”
None of this, of course, offered any specifics about studio plans for upcoming new Star Trek series or movies.
But that hasn’t stopped a lot of new speculation.

In particular, buzz has taken off regarding a potential new series that would bring back Star Trek: Enterprise star Scott Bakula as Jonathan Archer.
That series — titled Star Trek: United — would bring Archer back as the president of the United Federation of Planets for a political thriller style series that has been called the Star Trek franchise’s answer to Andor.
The folks over at TrekCulture quickly put together a video about it here:
But fan chatter, by no means, has been limited only to this potential project.
Eager fans remember the days — not that many years ago — when multiple Star Trek series were in production before the depressing franchise contracture we’ve had to endure more recently.
And they clearly hope for another big upswing in growth.
Star Trek Nitpickers put together something on all the series concepts they say will be pitched to new head honcho, Ellison.
And that even includes a Worf-centered series featuring Michael Dorn.
You can watch that video here:
Of course, right now it’s all speculation. It’s not certain which — if any — of these potential series will ever make it to our screens.
But one thing is certain, however.
Fans clearly want more Star Trek, and any talk that the franchise is dead or that fans are losing interest obviously just isn’t true.
